AGROS gives impetus to the development of animal husbandry in Eurasia

As part of the business program of AGROS trade fair in 2021 and 2022, one of the main problems of farmers in animal husbandry was actively discussed - price disparity and intermediary services imposed on them due to the underdevelopment of the livestock turnover market. So, in January 2022 at AGROS in Moscow, the National Union of Beef Producers with partners presented a solution to this problem - the formation of a modern agricultural trade market of farm animals.

The discussion on this topic found its successful conclusion at the Eurasian Economic Forum in Bishkek on May 26, 2022, where the “Agreement on the formation of a digital ecosystem for the circulation of farm animals and export-import operations with them” was signed (in the picture).

As part of the activities of the Eurasian Economic Union, one of the priorities is the elimination of remaining barriers to mutual trade, and the need to give a new impetus to cooperation in the agro-industrial complex and in the service sector.

In particular, one of the most promising tasks for the development of animal husbandry is the digital industrialization of the turnover of farm animals. It’s important to create a digital tool for the development of regional livestock markets, solving in practice the issues of livestock identification, selection and development of farmer type clusters. To date, this task has been technically and organizationally fulfilled by the Eurasian Meat Union, the corresponding digital platforms have been created and tested, the systemic industrialization of the turnover of farm animals is intended both for export-import operations and for transactions in the domestic markets of the Eurasian Meat Union member countries.

The Eurasian Meat Union includes industry unions of five countries: the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Armenia and Russia with the support of the Federal Scientific Center for Biological Systems and Agrotechnologies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The next meeting of the Eurasian Meat Union is planned during AGROS 2023.
